Design & Material Process
Crafted on a 25 momme white satin jacquard silk base, this fabric features a refined checkered bamboo-mat weave that introduces subtle structure and flexibility to the surface.
Through repeated cycles of botanical dyeing, river mud application, and sun-drying, the textile gradually develops its characteristic dual-tone appearance.
The checkered weave prevents the surface from appearing flat or uniform. Under natural or artificial light, the pattern emerges quietly—adding depth and sophistication without excess decoration.
Texture & Performance
Lightweight yet fluid, the fabric drapes naturally while maintaining a smooth and soft handfeel. The checkered structure provides a slight natural elasticity, enhancing comfort and adaptability in tailored garments.
The satin surface reflects light with restraint, creating a refined luster that elevates formal silhouettes without appearing glossy or overstated.
Botanical dyes derived from natural plant sources also contribute to reduced odor buildup during extended wear.
Natural Characteristics
As a traditional textile dyed entirely with plant materials and river mud—without chemical fixatives—slight color release may occur during the first few washes.
Because the black-facing surface is achieved through hand-applied river mud, subtle tonal variations, shadowing, or uneven depth may appear on the brown reverse. These effects are inherent to the traditional process and should not be considered defects.
Each piece carries slight variations in tone, sheen, and texture, reflecting its handcrafted nature.
