Design & Material Process
This fabric is woven on a 24 momme white jacquard satin silk base, where the cipher-pattern emerges through the weaving structure itself—subtle, restrained, and refined.
Through repeated cycles of botanical dyeing, hand-applied river mud dyeing, and sun-drying, the fabric gradually develops its distinctive visual depth. The face reveals a deep, understated black sheen, while the reverse slowly transforms into a warm brown tone.
Texture & Performance
The fabric feels compact yet smooth and soft, offering excellent drape and flexibility.
The inherent luster of the satin weave interacts with the cipher-pattern structure, allowing the motifs to appear quietly under sunlight and artificial light, giving the textile a composed and luxurious presence.
Botanical dyes derived from natural plant materials also help reduce odor accumulation over time with continued wear.
Natural Characteristics
As a traditional textile dyed entirely with plant materials and river mud—without any chemical fixing agents—slight color release may occur during the first few washes.
Because the black surface is created through manual river mud application, localized tonal variation, darker seepage, or shadowing may appear on the brown reverse side. These characteristics are natural results of the hand-applied mud-dyeing process and should not be considered defects.
Each piece shows subtle differences in color, sheen, and texture, reflecting the handcrafted nature of the fabric.
