Design & Material Process
This fabric is created through a layered natural dyeing process that combines indigo resist-dyeing with traditional botanical dyeing.
The silk is first hand-tied and resist-dyed using natural indigo, forming organic, cloud-like patterns shaped by the binding technique. It is then immersed in dye baths made from the shu ling plant and repeatedly sun-dried, allowing warm red and orange tones to gradually develop through oxidation.
Without undergoing river mud fixation, the fabric remains closer to silk’s natural state, preserving its softness, breathability, and fluid drape while allowing both dye layers to remain visually distinct.
